First Time Applicants

Residence Requirement

Qualifying students must either have lived in coastal West Marin for at least one year immediately prior to application OR be a student at, or recent graduate of, Tomales High School. Coastal West Marin includes the following areas: Bolinas, Dillon Beach, Inverness, Marshall, Muir Beach, Nicasio, Olema, Point Reyes Station, Stinson Beach, and Tomales, CA. 

Evaluation Criteria

Scholarships are awarded to qualified applicants based on grade point average, SAT/ ACT scores (when submitted), evidence of ability to succeed at the school the student has chosen to attend, and financial need. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 is required. In addition, the selection committee considers recommendations, community service, extracurricular activities, work experience, and family responsibilities.   

Continuing Scholars

To reapply, a student must have successfully completed a minimum of 9 units (part-time) or 12 units (full-time) per semester/quarter with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 at the end of the freshman year, and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 at the end of each subsequent year. If the GPA at the end of the freshman year is below 2.5 it may be omitted in calculating the cumulative GPA for subsequent years. If a scholarship has been awarded and the student does not achieve the required cumulative GPA by the end of the academic year, the scholarship might not be renewed.

A scholar may reapply for continuing scholarships for 3 years, with a maximum of 4 annual scholarships if the student meets GPA and course credit requirements. Normally, these years are to run consecutively. Exceptions may be made in special circumstances. If/when an interruption in college attendance occurs and a student reapplies for a scholarship, his or her situation will be considered on its merits by the Scholarship Fund.
