WMSP Internship Grant Criteria
We are excited that you are applying for the WMSP Internship Grant! Here are the criteria for this grant. Please reach out to your mentor if you have any questions.
The intent of the Internship Grant is to support our scholars’ ability to work in an unpaid or low paid position that is relevant to their major or career plans.
- Internship will last a minimum of 200 hours over the summer
- Internship should be relevant to the scholar’s field of study or career interest
- Funding is for scholars who secure or build an unpaid or low-paid internship opportunity at nonprofit organizations, some for-profit organizations, and government offices.
- Scholars cannot work for their own institutions but may take a research position at another college or university.
- Scholars must be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year of college. We will also consider scholars who find an appropriate internship in the summer or fall after graduation.
- Scholars must be in good academic standing, meeting the WMSP GPA requirements.
- Scholars can receive the Internship Grant more than once if funds are available
- Scholars will secure an internship prior to applying for funding. Ask for an offer letter.
- Scholars will complete an Internship Fund application, available on the WMSP website.
- Scholars will submit a brief report on their experience at the conclusion of the internship to their mentor.
- The Internship Grant is up to $4,000 and will be paid by check in two installments, at the beginning and middle of the summer.
